My plan wasn’t politics. I served in the British Army as an Intelligence officer for 7 years having done a tour of Afghanistan and working across the globe to keep our country safe, I’ve always been driven to get things done. When I left the army just before the pandemic, I joined a tech start up managing an analyst team that dealt with all things data. And I loved my job, my life with my dog (Nugget – you will have seen her on my socials!) and my life with my now husband. But seeing the challenge ahead of us, what the Conservatives had done to our country and knowing that the generation after me would find life harder than when I was their age, I knew something was wrong and I felt I had to do something.

Being your MP is the privilege of a lifetime and getting to represent an area that has such pride in its community, it’s heritage and for the people who have built their lives here is a genuine honour. What matters to me is fighting to see opportunities for our young people, fighting division and seeing a fairer society that sees your hard work rewarded.
